Matt Damon: Peter Jackson’s Beatles Documentary Led Me to Work with Ben Affleck Again

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Matt Damon says Peter Jackson’s documentary Get Back about The Beatles inspired him to continue collaborating with Ben Affleck. The two Massachusetts-born actors first rose to fame with Good Will Hunting, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

Since watching Get Back, Damon has teamed up with Affleck on three films over the past five years. In an interview with GQ he said: “What does it matter if we flood the market with movies we’re both in? We’d be crazy not to take advantage of being alive and acting.”

The Last Duel, Air, and The Rip—which will be released on Netflix on January 16—are their three most recent collaborations. The Rip follows a group of Miami police officers whose loyalty to one another is tested after discovering millions of dollars in cash inside a warehouse. Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Steven Yeun, Nestor Carbonell, and Kyle Chandler also star.

Damon added that his and Affleck’s goal has been to make films they themselves would want to watch: “And that’s really the formula we apply in our acting careers.”

Affleck said of Damon: “Every acting experience with Matt is an honor because it makes me appreciate him more as a great actor. He’s truly a master of realism, and I deeply admire him for that. It’s one of his countless qualities.” He emphasized: “We have more movies to make together.”

Damon recently wrapped filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
